Mozart Connection Webquest
http://projects.edtech.sandi.net/dailard/mozartconnect/index.htm
This webquest is designed for high school students to understand research about the effects of classical music on the mind. Students learn about things such as the Mozart Effect and other controversial research. The task has students pick from three roles: parent, teacher, or doctor. Each student will look at research conducted by musicians and scientists from the perspective of the role they chose. There is also an opportunity to include themselves in the research by listening to classical pieces and recording how they are affected. This webquest caught my attention because it involves both individual and group work. Besides the initial quiz at the very beginning of the site, all of the links work. The quiz is not an integral part of the webquest, thus it is not a huge burden for the teacher. The teachers site does a great job of explaining the objectives; it even includes the national standards covered, possible variations, and a list of additional materials needed.

Music Adventure Webquest
http://www.personal.psu.edu/faculty/j/x/jxz8/Student_Webquests/Oswald/WebFiles/home.html
This webquest is designed for middle school students. It's based upon the fun idea of building several theme parks based upon different musical eras in history. There are several roles the students will be asked to undertake, including that of Entertainment Supervisor, Architect, Food/Beverage Manager, Engineer, and Game Designer. This webquest is both entertaining and informative becuase the students must think critically in order to relate each part of their theme park to a specific musical era.
